[1974] Clicking back to the analogue age: the mechanical magic of 1970 s digital photography


It seems exceptional, looking back 50 years, that the fully functioning electronic cameras of the 1970 s were 100 % mechanical– requiring no batteries or circuits. The Agfamatic 2008 is analogue-age excellence.

I am looking through my old baby pictures in the albums featured in the previous article. There’s me swaddled in a child blanket, another of me sitting plum on the floor beside a big guitar– before I had found out to stroll or crawl.

The most obvious aspect of these pictures are the near-comical clothes. While the 1970 s are stereotypically recognized for the flared pants and flower tee shirts, these photos prior to me reveal something unexpected. Amongst the huge hats and beards in the numerous images are a freakishly a great deal of fabric wall hangings. That isn’t what I link the 70 s with.
